Piano sonata B minor

After our facsimile of the B minor Sonata was revised and published in 2015, we now present the corresponding Henle Urtext edition, newly revised. With the help of the brilliant facsimile reproduction, the autograph could now be evaluated more reliably in certain places. Additionally, the editor Ernst Herttrich consulted not only the first edition but also a copy belonging to a student of Liszt, in which the composer made handwritten annotations. Clara Schumann reacted to the sending of the sonata by Liszt with confusion: "This is just blind noise - no healthy thought anymore, everything is confused." Today, we feel differently. Our new edition of this central work of piano literature is further enhanced by the refined fingerings suggested by piano titan Marc-André Hamelin.
