The border area between philosophy, the science of thinking and being, and religion, the belief in an almighty creator God, is mined terrain. With the triumph of naturalism, religious efforts were directed at the problem of proving the existence of God as a real possibility that cannot be eliminated by naturalism.
Anton Friedrich Koch takes a completely different path by refuting naturalism itself by means of Aristotle's so-called first philosophy, metaphysics, while at the same time showing that nothing is gained for the belief in God. The second part of his book is about the mourning for the lost religion and a possible finding again.
