Plato: Phaedo. A dialogue on the immortality of the soul, composed around 387 to 367 BC. First printed (in Latin translation by Marsilio Ficino) in: Opera, Florence, undated (circa 1482/84). First print of the Greek original in: Hapanta ta tu Platônos, edited by M. Musoros, Venice 1513. The first German translation was done by Christian Hofmann von Hofmannswaldau in: Deutsche Übersetzungen und Gedichte, Breslau 1679. The text follows the translation by Friedrich Daniel Ernst Schleiermacher from 1809. Greek: Phaídôn, Latinized: Phaedo. Complete new edition with a biography of the author, edited by Karl-Maria Guth. Berlin 2016. The text is based on the edition: Plato: Complete Works. Berlin: Lambert Schneider, [1940]. The pagination of the above edition is precisely carried over as marginal notes in this new edition. Cover design by Thomas Schu.
