Product details

Albert Schweitzer's ethical approach is arguably the most underestimated ethical theory of the 20th century. Schweitzer made the mistake of not adhering to rigid philosophical terms, as these hinder thought, much like tracks obstruct traffic on the road. This work attempts to systematically and clearly present Schweitzer's approach. Additionally, it sheds light on the philosophical problem areas and his way of using concepts. From a positive affirmation of the world and life, the acknowledgment of the enigmatic nature of world events, and the genuine recognition of the cruel dualism of creation and destruction, the ethics of reverence for life emerges. This ethics leaves no room for ethical clichés, cannot be regulated by prescriptive norms, and is capable of incorporating all living nature into its striving.
