Ave Maris Stella

This study attempts to answer the question of academic identity and is conceived as a contribution to the commemoration of the 400th anniversary of the Canadian province. It outlines Acadianity within the North American melting pot, whose linguistic and cultural hegemony has long since transcended the national borders of the USA and Canada. Through the fragility of cultural mediation, the transcultural orientation, the function of memory, and the problematization of the outermost periphery, Acadian themes have attained a special status within Francophone studies and general cultural studies.
