The book is a practice-oriented guide for the treatment of personality disorders. It presents a psychological model of personality disorders, the model of dual action regulation, which explains the characteristic interactional difficulties and therapeutic issues faced by clients with these disorders. From this model, psychological action principles and therapeutic strategies are derived, which help therapists effectively manage interaction problems and lead clients towards meaningful change. All eight "pure" personality disorders are discussed in detail: their specific characteristics, their unique interactional traits, and specific therapeutic approaches that therapists can use to motivate clients towards change.
