Those who wanted to prepare themselves linguistically for a stay in Afghanistan have had little practical material to fall back on so far. The new Persian language guide by Simin Heiderfazel now offers comprehensive practical help for communication in the Afghan majority language Farsi Dari. Starting with the Persian alphabet, numbers, greetings, a calendar and helpful terms from the health care and school system, the guide systematically introduces terms and phrases that make it easier to cope with everyday situations. In total, the volume contains about 2500 words in alphabetical order. Since a secure command of a language is not possible without a system of rules, the book contains a simplified presentation of the basic grammatical rules. In addition, the small-format phrase book contains tips for behavior in Afgha.
