Performatives Lehren Lernen Forschen - Performative Teaching Learning Research

When I first heard the term "performative teaching and learning," I was reminded of a statement by Wittgenstein: "A new word acts like a fresh seed thrown onto the ground of discussion." This is mentioned in a contribution to this volume in the SCENARIO book series, which promotes intercultural dialogue within drama and theater education. This volume gathers six contributions, each presented in both German and English, that explore performative teaching, learning, and research from the perspectives of drama and theater education, general pedagogy, and foreign language didactics. Given that the word "performative" is common in many languages, there is a particular advocacy for its use in intercultural contexts to characterize approaches to teaching, learning, and research that emerge from dynamic contexts.
