That Germany is a country characterized by diversity is undeniable. Yet, immigrants and their descendants face daily rejection and discrimination, whether in the search for housing, during job interviews, or when having their tickets checked. It is shocking how deeply racism still permeates everyday life in Germany. At the same time, such experiences are difficult to empathize with if one has not experienced them personally. This makes it all the more important to share the stories of those affected, to raise awareness in society and to enable change. In "People of Deutschland," Martina Rink and Simon Usifo gather voices on the topic of racism in Germany. Personalities from fields such as fashion, sports, media, business, and art authentically and movingly share their experiences and describe what it is like to live today as a person of color or a person with a visible migration background in Germany. These personal stories provide insights into the social diversity of this country and encourage people to confront everyday racism. The texts are complemented by stunning portraits from photographer Sammy Hart.
