Berlin in the Roaring Twenties. A Jewish banker is found murdered in the hallway of his mistress's apartment. Commissioner Ariel Spiro has just moved to Berlin from the provinces and takes on his first case right away. Initially, the investigation points to a political motive. However, the wealthy and eccentric family of the deceased also draws Spiro's attention. The young commissioner is driven by the fast pace of the city and swept away by the vibrant Berlin nightlife. When the fascinating daughter of the deceased seeks his company, Spiro must be careful not to let the case slip away from him. Gradually, the masks fall, and not everyone is what they seem. Kerstin Ehmer showcases Berlin in the 1920s in all its facets. Shimmering bars and sexual liberation characterize the capital of the Weimar Republic just as much as anti-Semitism.
