The internationally active sculptor and performance artist Pawel Althamer (*1967) often works on projects in planned or spontaneous collaborations that seek to break down socially burdened structures. In a spiritual manner, free from specific religious beliefs, he repeatedly engages with his self-portrait. Using unusual techniques, materials, and approaches, Althamer expands the conventional concept of art. Social initiatives are a significant part of his artistic program. This publication is released on the occasion of the exhibition honoring Pawel Althamer with the Lovis Corinth Prize 2022 and is dedicated to his previous projects as well as new works.
