Was Paul a Jew? Or was he the founder of Christianity? For some, the pugnacious apostle is a hero because he broke through the narrow boundaries of Judaism and turned Christianity into a world religion. For others, he is seen as an apostate and traitor who abandoned the faith of his fathers. In more recent times, however, there has been a growing number of voices that paint a different picture of Paul: The image of a Jew who remained true to his faith, but carried it into a new and changed world. This book traces this path and shows that for the Jew Paul, the old faith of the Bible is not in contradiction to the new challenges of a changed culture.
