Particle Physics
German, Tom Pugh Whyntie, 2014Product details
On the journey into ever smaller dimensions, the infocomics volume "Particle Physics" sets out. The path begins with atomic theory in ancient Greece, passes by the discoveries of electrons, atomic nuclei, positrons, and makes a temporary stop at the Higgs particle. At this point, we have reached the limits of our current knowledge: the Standard Model. This model includes twelve particles (six quarks and six leptons) and three fundamental interactions mediated by particles (bosons). Many members of this elementary family are very elusive and can only be observed for brief moments and under experimental conditions. The next dream destination of our journey would be supersymmetry and the inclusion of gravity. There, the two previously separate theories of the very large and the very small would unite, addressing black holes in the universe as well as our W.
