Livio Vacchini

Livio Vacchini (1933-2007) is considered one of the most important representatives of the 'Tendenza', the emerging generation of Ticinese architects who shaped construction in Italian Switzerland from the 1960s onwards. This first comprehensive presentation of Vacchini's work in German for over 20 years particularly highlights his ability to provide a spiritual foundation for building. The focus is on his precision in design and writing, which is central to the thorough analysis of his work. The relationships between Vacchini's theoretical principles and selected buildings are illustrated through the categories of typology, tectonics, and transformation.
