Armando Ronca

The Veronese native Armando Ronca (1901-1970) studied engineering in Genoa, Turin, and Padua, and began his professional career in Trento. From 1935, he ran his own architectural office in Bolzano, becoming a leading proponent of modernism in South Tyrol. With a second office, Ronca was also active in Milan, where buildings by Giuseppe Terragni and Gio Ponti provided him with significant inspiration. Key themes in his work include the plastic articulation of building forms, the rhythmic structuring of facades, and a constant effort to explore the urban potential of architecture. This book presents a comprehensive overview of around 40 buildings designed by Armando Ronca in Merano and Bolzano for the first time. Individual structures, such as the Merano Eurotel, are analyzed and documented in detail. Additionally, the monograph showcases all of Ronca's remaining buildings.
