Product details
When Hemingway returned to Paris in 1956, he had his old suitcases brought from the cellar of the Hotel Ritz. They contained diaries and notes from the twenties, his time as a foreign correspondent. Hemingway took these early notes and used them to create the novel of his Parisian years. It was a happy, formative time for him when he fished along the Seine, turned modest winnings from horse racing into champagne, met Gertrude Stein, James Joyce, Ezra Pound and F. Scott Fitzgerald. Hemingway's last book takes us back to its beginnings: it is a celebration of life and writing, a book of remembrance full of youthful vigour and melancholy humour, now, newly translated, available for the first time in the version left by the author.
