Product details
In language suitable for young people, this book tells of the eventful history of the use of Palais Schwerin, one of the oldest surviving town houses in the centre of Berlin. Designed in 1704 by the French architect Jean de Bodt, the city palace served as a criminal court and police headquarters in the 19th century, and in the 1920s it was temporarily used as a furniture store. In GDR times, it housed the GDR Ministry of Culture. Due to its historical and urban development significance, the Palais Schwerin is now a listed building. It houses the Franco-German Youth Office.
