Musical Concerns

This volume presents a new collection of essays, all of which focus on the music of Jerrold Levinson, one of the most prominent art philosophers of our time. It follows in the tradition of Levinson's earlier collections, including "Music, Art, and Metaphysics," "The Pleasures of Aesthetics," and "Contemplating Art," and represents some of the most stimulating work being done in the field of analytical aesthetics. The essays are diverse and should appeal to aestheticians, philosophers, musicologists, music theorists, music critics, and music lovers of all kinds. Three of the twelve essays that make up the volume have not been published before, and in a slight deviation from Levinson's usual themes, four of the essays focus on music in the jazz tradition.
