The expansion of international competition significantly contributes to an increasing specialization of companies and thus a focus on specific corporate competencies. Outsourcing, which has emerged from this principle, has now reached a further, higher level. Through Business Process Outsourcing, entire business processes are outsourced to external specialists who, in the context of cooperative collaboration, provide a value-added contribution to the outsourcing company. This outsourcing, which is aimed at increasing efficiency, should be complemented by the aspect of intensifying effectiveness, thereby incorporating the topic of innovation generation into the strategic concept of Business Process Outsourcing. This study addresses the compatibility of the seemingly conflicting interests between short-term efficiency gains and sustainable innovation generation within the framework of Business Process Outsourcing collaborations. To this end, explicit challenges of this objective are identified, and a solution concept is presented within the framework of a dynamic management approach for the realization of innovations in Business Process Outsourcing collaborations.
