When their experiment on Heisenberg's uncertainty principle goes awry, physics student Richard and his friends discover that they have accidentally created a portal to another dimension. It leads them to a second Earth, a world that is just like ours – except that there have never been any humans there. The students are thrilled; the Nobel Prize is practically guaranteed. But then the supervolcano in Yellowstone National Park erupts, threatening to bury everything under a rain of ash and lava.
