Product details

The three-volume edition of the work 'Ice Age,' first published in 1978, has been completely revised by the author René Hantke and is now presented in an attractive new layout. The facts have been updated, new insights incorporated, and the content significantly condensed, resulting in a single-volume work. 'Ice Age' summarizes the research findings, particularly the pollen analytical insights of Max Welten and his colleagues. It also demonstrates that cold periods occurred in more recent Earth history in this region, starting at the Oligocene/Miocene transition with the glaciation of the recently elevated Bergeller Massif and Bernina area, and in the younger Miocene with the deposition of the Younger Jura Nagelfluh and erratic block formations. Additionally, an early phase in Switzerland can already be compared to the Cromer complex in the area of the Nordic glaciation.
