When Rupert is with his mother-in-law... It was one of those afternoons with strawberry cake and whipped cream, a wonderfully blue sky, and a gentle breeze that couldn't have been more perfect. If it hadn't been for Rupert's annoying mother-in-law, who had invited herself over for coffee, and if there hadn't suddenly been a nasty bang. The bang was quickly explained: out of the blue, a seagull had dropped a rather unwelcome gift that definitely did not belong on Rupert's windshield: a human finger. And Rupert's neighbor, an irritating music teacher, had left the patio door open for quite some time. As Rupert approached the house, he sensed trouble. And indeed, the teacher lay dead next to the piano. A rather unusual investigation begins, as Rupert firmly believes he can solve this without his mother-in-law. He cannot!.
