Product details

You can find a reading sample at 'https://verlag.sandstein.de/reader/98-597_Zwintscher' Oskar Zwintscher (1870-1916), a much-discussed artist between Art Nouveau and Symbolism during his lifetime, must today again be considered a "discovery" throughout Germany. In the course of an interdisciplinary research project at the Albertinum in Dresden, this desideratum is being comprehensively addressed. The museum owns one of the largest collections of Zwintscher's paintings. Extensive technical analyses of the paintings provide a differentiated picture of how the works came into being. The completion of their composition was often achieved through surprisingly experimental changes during the painting process. Remarkable discoveries of previously unknown textual and pictorial documents support the re-evaluation of the œuvre in contemporary and art historical contexts. The book offers essential articles on the biography and pictorial inventions of one of the most exciting artists of the fin de siècle.
