Oscar et la dame rose

Schmitt's second major book success after Monsieur Ibrahim tells the touching story of the terminally ill ten-year-old Oscar. Mamie-Rose, the old lady in pink, suggests that he write to God. From then on, every day that remains is a whole decade for Oscar: he experiences childhood, puberty, first love, adulthood, old age, reports back to God in his letters and dies tired and exhausted at the end.
