At the end of the 20th century, a case in the USA attracted attention when a heart patient was tormented by strange visual sequences that repeatedly appeared before her inner eyes after receiving a donor heart. It turned out that these were scenes from the life of the organ donor, who had died violently. Based on the descriptions provided by the recipient of the donor heart, the murderers of the donor were apprehended. Cases like this suggest the assumption that human organs somehow retain an imprint that is evidently preserved and transferred during their removal and transplantation. If this assumption is true, a series of serious questions arise. Hans Stolp raises these questions in his thought-provoking book and argues that the topic of organ donation must be expanded in societal discussions to include this dimension.
