Seed bombs, tomato plants on demolition sites, moss art on concrete walls: A unique form of gardening, known as Guerrilla Gardening, first emerged in Manhattan in the 1970s and has grown into a global movement, gaining more and more followers. Gardening has become cool! Guerrilla gardeners operate secretly: Under the cover of night, they plant traffic islands, occupy vacant lots by making them fertile, or take action with flowers against the neglect of their own apartment blocks – because public space belongs to everyone, not just the parks department.
