Optische Kohärenztomographie Angiographie

Optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) is an innovative technique based on OCT that visualizes the vessels in the various chorioretinal layers in three dimensions without the need for dye injection. It allows for the identification of different retinal vascular networks. This technique leads to a new semiological analysis and a better understanding of chorioretinal vascular architecture, but it has some limitations, as it is a static test that is susceptible to various artifacts caused by movements or changes in chorioretinal architecture. Currently, OCTA shows promise for diagnosing various non-inflammatory diseases, but it is not yet sufficient for making therapeutic decisions, necessitating a comparison with data from older multimodal imaging methods.
