Kalle is taken in by his grandmother at the age of five. He loses his parents when he is five years old. At first, he can't comprehend it at all. His grandmother takes him in. Kalle realizes that everything is very different now compared to when he was with his father and mother. Grandma is great, but old! And Grandma thinks: I hope I can raise the boy properly – at my age! She tells Kalle stories from back then, when everything was very different. They go on a trip together and have a lot of fun. Kalle is ten when Grandma falls ill. That’s when it becomes clear that she needs him too.
