Product details
Thomas Hockenberry, once a professor of philosophy at the University of Indiana, is chosen by the gods of Olympus after his death to serve as a war correspondent in Ilium. Sophisticated high-tech devices allow him to appear in the midst of battle and disappear in the blink of an eye. However, Hockenberry knows the Iliad too well not to notice that there are significant discrepancies between what he sees and the verses of Homer. He quickly realizes that he has not been resurrected on Greek Olympus, but on Olympus Mons, the tallest mountain on Mars. And he has not been transported to antiquity, but to a distant future. As his intervention takes the war in a completely new direction, events spiral increasingly out of control.
