Is there a greater challenge for designers than the Olympic Games? Each venue needs its own unique and unmistakable image, in which national identity and international trends merge with the Olympic spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair cooperation. For the first time, "Olympic Games - The Design" provides a chronological overview of the history of the Games, focusing on the visual appearance: logos, pictograms, mascots, medals, uniforms, tickets, posters, souvenirs and much more. Author Markus Osterwalder has compiled a total of around 6,000 illustrations on over 1,500 pages into two volumes with 58 chapters and embedded interesting facts about who created what and how. For each of the games, the passionate Swiss collector has systematically chosen examples from the fields of graphic design, typography, fashion and product design, among others, which make it possible to fully grasp the design identity of the respective games. In addition, the work represents an extraordinarily exciting history of development in the field of corporate identity and brand design.
