Oh Sunny

A young German-Korean woman flees from her family and their expectations, only to be unexpectedly confronted with the culture she was trying to escape. Born in Germany to Korean parents, she feels neither German nor Korean. Her life is a constant balancing act to please everyone: her studies, the perfect relationship – all compromises to meet the expectations of others. After a heated argument during the traditional Chuseok festival, she has had enough. She breaks away from her family and escapes – right into the gym of a Korean cultural association in Berlin. As an intern, Sunny settles into the equipment room and is suddenly confronted with the culture she was trying to escape. Yet it is here, among gym equipment and traditions, that Sunny must face her past and the question of self-determination.
