Ökotopia

The future development of cities must address the threat of energy shortages as well as growing mobility demands, increasing greenhouse gas emissions, and rampant land consumption. At the same time, it must ensure the compatibility of resource-saving building and settlement structures, housing forms, and technologies with the values, readiness, and capacities of different segments of the population. This study focuses on the interactions between three specific resources. Energetic, spatial, and social resources are examined in seven urban areas of Graz to identify the factors that can influence their sustainable use. The results presented here have been obtained through transdisciplinary collaboration.
