Ökologische Altbausanierung

The ecological renovation and modernisation of old buildings is one of the most important tasks for the future, not only for architects but also for the building owners concerned. In addition to classical planning knowledge, this requires special sensitivity in dealing with old building fabric, details of old buildings and factors of building physics. The author describes the typological peculiarities of old buildings on the basis of concrete projects and buildings and presents in detail measures for the renovation of listed buildings and energy conservation. These include, for example, wood preservation without poison, roof renovation, static interventions, insulation and façade, building services and the continued use of old building components. Practical planning requirements are also covered, as are the topics of healthy living and sustainability. The present 3rd edition has been supplemented by a focus on traditional vernacular buildings, new project examples have been added and practical information on the remediation of building pollutants has been expanded.
