The Swiss Federal Constitution of 1848 is a stroke of genius. Ulrich Ochsenbein leads the inventors' committee. He is a member of the first Federal Council team but is not re-elected in 1854. Twenty-five years later, he loses a sensational defamation lawsuit, and the first biography of Ochsenbein is purely a bashing. This distorted image becomes the standard and remains so to this day.
