Product details
Object-oriented programming gained attention in the scientific field as a new programming paradigm after its introduction by SIMULA and especially SMALLTALK. However, it initially struggled to establish itself as an implementation concept in the industrial environment. The breakthrough has only occurred recently, as it has been recognized that object orientation is not only an alternative programming paradigm but also a set of concepts for reducing the complexity of systems (to name the most important ones: database, user interface, programming, and simulation systems). Managing the complexity of systems is one of the central concerns of computer science and is therefore a key reason for the popularity of new object-oriented language developments such as EIFFEL or C-based languages like OBJECTIVE-C and especially C++.
