Oberkampf

A book full of longing and melancholy, comedy and horror.It is supposed to be the realization of a dream: Jonas Becker moves to Paris to write a book about the bohemian writer Richard Stein. While the publisher pays for the small apartment in Rue Oberkampf, Jonas spends the days with the author he admires, and the nights with his new girlfriend Christine.But after the attack on Charlie Hebdo, the city is suddenly in a state of emergency, and all lightness threatens to evaporate for Jonas as well: a letter from his ex-girlfriend tears open old wounds, he learns of the death of a friend, and with Christine, too, he must decide how serious he is. When Stein asks him to join him in the USA to look for his missing son, he agrees. Hilmar Klute sends a beau spirit into an abysmal world. In floating sentences he writes about the magic of literature and the fragility of our existence.
