O Catilina / Kudruns Tagebuch

In these late prose texts, which are among his most radical, Albert Drach expresses sympathies for the Roman rebel Catiline. However, in his engagement with this figure, he is influenced by themes of his own time, such as terrorism and the debate over nuclear weapons. In the previously unpublished "Kudrun's Diary," an adaptation of the Middle High German epic, he focuses on the psychological portrayal of the main character: In her personal notes, Kudrun appears as a self-assured, pragmatic, and largely self-determined woman, whose desire for revenge is increasingly replaced by a willingness to reconcile.
