In his book, Bruno Bohlhalter traces the history of the Swiss watch industry in the 20th century. As a key industry of the Swiss economy, the causes and consequences of the two "watch crises" in the 1930s and 1970/80s are particularly important. The study is a teaching play on association politics, the cartel economy and state intervention in times of crisis. The author shows the consequences of the technological change in the watch industry and how the way of coping with the first crisis laid the foundation for the second. Bruno Bohlhalter is an eminent connoisseur of the watch industry and has knowledge from within the industry that has not yet been made public.
