Residenzschloss Ludwigsburg

More than 1,200 art objects from the inventory of the Württemberg castle are currently being meticulously researched and restored for the new presentation of the New Corps de Logis (New Main Building) at Ludwigsburg Palace. With the help of inventory lists from 1800 to 1825, as many furnishings as possible are to return to their original locations. Most of the original art objects, which are around 200 years old, survived wars and societal upheavals. However, in the post-war period, the palace was furnished for the public more from a decorative than a historical perspective. In the coming years, the 35 rooms of the New Corps de Logis will be restored in accordance with monument preservation standards, and a wide selection of these art objects will be on display again. This volume reveals how paintings, furniture, textiles, clocks, candlesticks, mirrors, and ceramics are to find their new, old places and what aesthetics, status, and furnishings meant for courtly living culture and the function of rooms in the early 19th century.
