Product details
Flipping through this book, we are immediately struck not only by the atmospheric black-and-white photos of the Danish coast but also by the wonderful watercolors and high-quality images of various fly patterns. Clearly, this book is a particularly aesthetic delight and will surely find many fans. Thomas Vinge has presented a masterpiece here, drawing on a vast network of Scandinavian sea trout enthusiasts. The long-out-of-print Danish edition is well-known among insiders. NORTH GUIDING Verlag has spared no effort to realize a German edition as a true labor of love. Matthias Wendt translated the books, and the manuscript was thoroughly coordinated with Thomas Vinge, ensuring that the translation is exceptionally coherent in detail. Volume II captivates us with a comprehensive collection of over 250 coastal fly patterns. The systematics, accuracy, and palpable passion with which Thomas Vinge describes the connections and content are highly impressive. The fly patterns are neatly categorized according to the sea trout's prey and include all patterns for shrimp, seaweed runners, small fish, or worm imitations. Here, there are suggestions for everyone from beginners to expert tiers. Each pattern comes with a tying instruction and a materials list. Particularly interesting are the stories and thoughts behind each fly pattern. The best Scandinavian anglers provide deep insights into their strategies and experiences. The book concludes with a very detailed chapter on tying materials, their properties, and applications. The many tips and tricks described in this chapter are worth their weight in gold for many tiers. After all, who better to learn from than Danish experts and their experiences in developing effective sea trout flies for the coast? Highly recommended!.
