The author Hans Much (1880 -1932 in Hamburg) was a doctor, immunologist and writer. In addition to his medical work, Much was intensively involved with architecture and art history. He wrote Low German poems and books about North German brick Gothic and regional art. In the present volume he describes North German Gothic sculpture in Mecklenburg (Wismar, Güstrow, Rostock, Parchim and others), in Lübeck, Schleswig-Holstein, Hanover, Brandenburg, in the Altmark and Silesia, as well as in Pomerania and Prussia. Illustrated with 71 b/w plates. Reprint of the original edition of 1920.
