Nonsequential and Distributed Programming with Go

This specialized book offers a comprehensive introduction to non-sequential and distributed programming using the Go programming language. It begins with a brief chapter on fundamental aspects of software engineering and their implementation in Go, before systematically presenting the essential concepts for synchronizing and communicating between concurrent processes. Topics such as locks, semaphores, fairness, deadlocks, monitors, as well as local and network-wide message transmission are covered. The book uses classic examples to vividly illustrate the presented concepts and facilitate comparison with the language's resources. The algorithms are formulated in Go, which, thanks to its simple syntax, also allows beginners without prior knowledge to access the synchronization concepts. Additionally, basic programming approaches in C and Java are introduced to provide a broader context. In the second edition, minor error corrections and updates have been made, with the nanouniverse nU being replaced by the microuniverse μU, opening up new visual possibilities.
