Mobile Payment

The idea of using mobile phones as a means of payment has existed for years. However, only a few mobile payment methods have managed to establish themselves worldwide. This book examines the underlying technologies and develops an analytical framework for mobile payment methods. It combines the technical features with an investigation of user requirements for acceptance and dissemination, drawing on insights from sociology and market research. In doing so, it bridges the gap between the technical perspective and the user's viewpoint, providing explanations for the difficulties encountered in establishing mobile payment methods in the market, as well as future prospects. This makes the real problems and opportunities of mobile payment methods clear, and three practical implementations of mobile payment in Germany are examined in detail.
