Noah

Noah is the builder of the ark, in which he survives the flood together with his closest family and many animals representing all species. With Noah, the story of humanity begins anew. Noah's story recounts the greatest of all disasters while also highlighting survival and life. It intertwines themes of destruction with symbols of life, such as the ark as a place of refuge, the dove with the olive branch as a symbol of peace, and the rainbow as a sign of the covenant and a pledge for the preservation of the world. In the biblical narrative, catastrophe and salvation become a single theme—and it is the same God that connects both. Thus, the story of Noah also poses a pressing question to God himself.
