Farah Hareb was two years old when her parents fled the civil war in Lebanon. And although she has been working as a nurse in Germany for a long time, she is still only tolerated as a stateless person: Sometimes the authorities missed a stamp on her birth certificate, then she was considered Turkish - with ever new hurdles, she was and still is denied German citizenship. While Farah Hareb cares for Covid-19 patients in an intensive care unit and contracted the virus herself, her legal residence status is still unclear. She lives from one official toleration to the next. She was threatened with losing her job and even deportation.
