Product details

After the end of the war, the author - encouraged by successes in chess - fought his way from an apprentice in coal mining to university studies without a high school diploma. Later, as a member of an industrial research institute and as a university lecturer, he took on a variety of responsible tasks. His conscience often stood in the way of what was politically demanded of him. This had consequences ... and after the fall of the Berlin Wall he was glad to have survived at all. It was not until an anonymous call from his hometown of Chemnitz in March 2013, which he left in the spring of 1989 on urgent medical advice, that he was prompted to come to terms with what had happened before and after the fall of the Wall. What he realized made him doubt the democratic constitutional state and moved him to take up the pen. This is his moving story.
