According to the Liturgical Constitution Sacrosanctum Concilium (SC) of Vatican II, the faithful should "not attend worship as outsiders and silent spectators" (SC 48), but participate in it consciously, actively, and piously. This volume discusses "identity" and "participation" as two central guiding categories of contemporary discourses. Biblical and historical assurances on the question of ecclesial identity serve as a foundation for ecumenically enriched reflections, showing perspectives on the (renewal) potential of liturgy.
