Studies (e.g. the ARD-ZDF studies on online use) show that the total time spent by the population on the Internet is continuously increasing. The classic print media are losing more and more of their appeal because the population is increasingly orienting itself towards digital media. If today's personnel marketing wants to successfully meet the new challenges, this requires the responsible personnel managers to deal with the internet and its new communication channels. Social media is all the more important because HR management effectively addresses Generation Y and X through this medium. This paper introduces the reader to the benefits and possibilities of social media. Starting with a general explanation of HR marketing and continuing with the general principles of social media, these two topics are finally combined.
