Neue deutsche Literaturgeschichte

The New German Literary History appears in its third edition, again updated and revised throughout. In clear language and coherent text complexes, it reliably presents the most important authors and works of the major epochs of German literary history. In addition to the canonical works and authors, lesser-known traditions are also honored in their literary-historical significance. Emphasis is placed on the integration of the texts into their cultural-historical, social, and also international contexts. In the third edition, greater attention is paid to media contexts of literary production and reception in all eras. The descriptive text is supplemented by a recommended reading for all epochs with about 400 chronologically arranged work titles and an extensive scholarly bibliography.
