Can Germany be home again? "With the children, hope also returns," says Betsy Sternberg when she moves back into her old apartment in Rothschildallee in 1948. The bomb damage has been repaired, the cherry tree in the backyard is still there, the birds are chirping, but for the survivors of the Sternberg family there is no going back to their old life. Future, home, security are words without meaning for them. Yet they dare to make a new beginning.
